Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), a wealthy young woman runs from her wedding and meets her childhood friend Monica Geller (Courteney Cox). She lands up staying with her, getting a job at a coffee house below their apartment, and becoming part of her group of friends — Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), and Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow). Later, Rachel begins dating her Italian neighbour while Ross, who has had a crush on her since their teen years, struggles to declare his feelings. On the other hand, Joey, who is an actor, enters into many casual relationships. Phoebe has a rather eccentric personality and leads an equally quirky life. Chandler has a well-paying desk job but a failed love life. The six friends wade their way through the challenges of life in twenties in their own quirky ways.
